Over 300 women have been screened for cervical and breast cancer during the recent 3-day Monitor Healthcare Ltd, efferentCARES INITIATIVES breast cancer/ cervical cancer screening held in Lagos.

The screening was held at St Timothy Catholic Hospital, Ojodu, Lagos on 16th-18th of May 2019.

The highlight of the 3-day program included a quick Housekeeping followed a brief lecture on cervical cancer by the Hospital chief matron.

The CEO of Monitor Healthcare Ltd (MHL), Dr Femi Ogunremi, also gave a brief lecture on Breast Cancer. Registration of participants was made after which the screening started.All positive cases were referred for a more diagnostic test and/or treatment.

Among the dignitaries present is The Baale of Ojodu to also pay a visit to appreciate the good effort made for the people in the area and encourages the good work done. His wife, Olori Olubunmi Bolanle also participated in the screening and encouraged women to find time out of their busy schedules to take care of their health.

 As the exact cause of cancer remains unclear, advances in screening and treatment have improved survival rates dramatically in the past years. Awareness of the symptoms and the need for screening are important ways of reducing the risk and mortality rate.
