MONITOR HEALTHCARE LIMITED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BREAST CANCER ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (BRECAN) LAGOS CHAPTER; ORGANIZES A FREE BREAST AND HIV SCREENING EXERCISE AT SURULERE, LAGOS
On Friday the 27th of November, 2020, Monitor Healthcare Ltd (MHL) in partnership with the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) organized a breast screening and awareness program in Ikate area of Surulere, Lagos state, Nigeria.
With the theme “screening without border,” the location of the screening was at 24, Oke Ona Street, Ikate Surulere, an interior part of Lagos where the breast screening was carried out free for 100 women as the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) handled the cost of screening.
Members of MHL and BRECAN team on arrival started with the distribution of flyers to individuals in the area so as to get more participants registered followed by a talk on Breast cancer (its sign, symptoms and dangers) before the screening process, which involved the Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) and Clinical Breast Illumination (CBI) using the BREAST-i device, commenced.
There was a need to improvise in setting up screening rooms as one of the residents of the area offered a small classroom which was rearranged to have 2 rooms fit for the screening. HIV test was also carried out for the participants registered.
The men in the area also benefited from the program by having their B.P check and HIV test done.
The Fight Against Breast Cancer is a fight that requires all hands on deck and as we approach 2021 we expect more public and private entities to come on board. For more enquiries or to book an appointment, kindly visit www.monitorhealthcare.com or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
