MONITOR HEALTHCARE LTD AND FHS MEDICAL CONSULTING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT TRAINS MEDICAL PRACTITIONER IN LAGOS STATE ON BASIC LIFE SUPPORT(BLS).

Monitor Healthcare Limited (MHL) and FHS Medical Consulting in partnership with the Lagos State Government organized Basic Life Support (BLS) training for medical professionals in the State. The training started on Tuesday the 31st of August through the 2nd of September, 2021 at Island Maternity Hospital, 10 Campbell Street, Lagos Island.

The training was targeted at training Two Hundred and Fifty (250) medical staff of the Lagos State Government with the objective of impacting both theoretical and practical knowledge of the importance of early and quick resuscitation of collapsed or unresponsive victims/patients and the processes involved in resuscitating them to avoid unnecessary deaths in Lagos State, thereby improving healthcare delivery in Lagos State.

In Compliance to NCDC and Lagos State’s approved standard for social gatherings, the H.S.C. officials offered MHL two (2) training rooms at the hospital such that each room would contain twenty-five (25) participants per session for the training, appropriate PPEs were made available and were used effectively, in a bid to limit the spread of infections. This arrangement was to enable MHL staff train hundred (100) participants per day.

The training process starts with the registration and organization of participants. After participants were well seated, they filled a pre-training assessment form and the MCQ to test participants’ knowledge of resuscitation prior to the training. The facilitator then gives a lecture stating the objectives of the training, its importance and key points to note about Basic Life Support (BLS). After the lecture, there was a demonstration/ practical by the facilitator/instructor on how to deliver Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to use the AED.

The training for each session on daily basis, ended with a test (Multiple Choice Questions) and a skills assessment by the instructors during the practical, to ascertain knowledge gained from the training and feedback forms were filled by participants so as to review the impact of the training and areas that needs improvement.
