Early detection is key in any cancer. For Breast Cancer, it’s easier than some other cancers in detection. In Africa, we need to tackle this monster in our own way! If mammogram which is presently the validated screening tool is not readily available, we should think outside the box. On the backdrop of this bid why @MHL we are working hard alongside interested and willing stakeholders with positive energy to break barriers and create suitable solutions to fight Against Breast Cancer (ABC).

In Kaduna on 1st and 2nd of November, 2019, MHL pushed boundaries again in partnership with Fifth Chukker Polo Club, First Bank and Kaduna State government to screen the community. The event was tagged  ‘PINK HOPE’ aimed at sensitizing the public about breast cancer, the risk factors of breast cancer, how it can be prevented and how early detection save lives. The screening was conducted at three (3) venues; the Ministry of Women Empowerment and social service Kaduna, Primary Healthcare Centre Maraba, and the Fifth Chukker Polo and Country club.

The Venue was staffed by the First lady of Kaduna State, Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Medical doctors, Commissioners and other Healthcare practitioners alongside Monitor Healthcare Team who were available to register, screen individuals, answer questions to ensure understanding of the screening exercise and prevention advice to teach them on how to self-check their breast. The women were screened for breast cancer using BREAST-I device.

Our aim as a team is to develop a sustained structure that will make a significant impact and save lives in the long run. It needs to be clear to us all that the way out is Early Detection by awareness creation – it’s our job to make others knows!

The following are some of the news about our activities in Kaduna over the weekend. We are open for partnership in this fight Against Breast Cancer. Email
