MONITOR HEALTHCARE LTD ORGANIZES FREE BREAST, CERVICAL, HIV AWARENESS AND SCREENING PROGRAM FACILITATED BY HON. FEMI GBAJABIAMILA IN SURULERE AREA OF LAGOS STATE.
Monitor Healthcare Limited, in partnership with FHS Consulting and Federal Medical Center, Ebute Meta organized a free medical screening for men, women, children, commercial drivers, conductors and Union members in the Surulere area of Lagos facilitated by Honourable Femi Hakeem Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of Assembly.
The medical screening program kicked off on the 2nd of October and ended on the 13th of October, 2021. At the entrance to the venue of the screening, nose masks, hand sanitizer, hand flyers and number tags were given to the participant so as to ensure orderliness and that the COVID-19 protocol is being maintained.
After participants were seated, the Chairman Surulere Local Government gave a welcome address after which Dr. Femi Ogunremi and Dr. Tunde Adewunmi gave a short talk on breast cancer, signs and symptoms, how to do Breast Self examination and what would be done in the course of the program.
After participants were addressed, the screening process commenced with the screening of the officials of the Local Government which includes the Chairman, Mr. Suleiman Yusuf, NYSC chairman Lagos State and all host of other dignitaries in Surulere Local Government. The screening was divided into 5 stages; HIV and Cardiovascular screening, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist to Height Ratio (WHR), Registration, Cervical Screening and Breast Screening.
The ambulance provided by the Federal Medical Centre Ebute Meta was used as a breast screening room also for ladies who are not eligible for cervical screening or are not interested and had 2 staff stationed there.
After the screening a short meeting was held for individual feedback from the activities of the day. Through this process new plans were made and one more stage was added to help speed up the screening process. The process continued for subsequent days of the screening.
The screening at Akerele Medical Center ended abruptly on the 11th of October due to the need to vacate the premises as it was to be used for another medical outreach organized by the Surulere Local Government Chairman. We however continued the program by going to the selected schools where the dental assessment and Deworming of pupils would be done and set up there for the medical checkup and breast, cervical cancer screening.
