The impact of traumatic injuries on modern society in terms of morbidity, mortality, and economic cost is enormous. The Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) course was designed to provide pre-hospital care providers with the skills necessary to provide a thorough assessment, initial resuscitation, and rapid transportation of the trauma victim.

Monitor Healthcare Ltd trained Babcock final year medical student on how to provide a thorough assessment, initial resuscitation and rapid transportation of a Trauma victim. This training took place in Babcock Medical Teaching Hospital on the 11th of July, 2021. Practical session was included in the training where facilitator gave a demonstration on how to provide a thorough assessment, initial resuscitation, and rapid transportation of a trauma victim. Afterwards, each of the participants were given opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge acquired to ascertain participants’ understanding and ability to administer an Adjustable Neck Collar and when to apply CPR knowledge to rescue a trauma patient when required.

The training was very interactive, practical, and educative as participants had their questions answered and thoughts clarified.
