Weekly Newsletter: Bringing Cancer Awareness to the Heart of Communities

Taking Awareness Beyond Hospitals

This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Monitor Healthcare took its life-saving message directly to the people — into markets, churches, and community centers. Our goal was clear: to reach women where they live, work, and worship, ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against breast cancer.

Too often, access to screening and health education is limited to hospitals or urban clinics. Recognizing this gap, Monitor Healthcare set out to make preventive healthcare accessible, approachable, and available to all especially to those in underserved communities.

Community Outreaches: Markets, Churches, and Beyond

Throughout the month, our dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers visited markets, churches, and religious organizations across Lagos and neighboring states. These were not just awareness sessions they were interactive, empowering experiences.

Using our innovative Breast-I Device, a UK-tested and proven breast screening tool we provided free breast cancer screenings to hundreds of women. The device is portable, non-invasive, and highly effective for early detection, making it ideal for community outreach.

At markets, traders and buyers took breaks from their busy schedules to get screened and learn self-examination techniques. In churches, faith leaders joined us in encouraging women to prioritize their health, blending messages of faith and wellness to inspire action.

Each outreach ended not just with screenings, but with education, awareness, and a renewed sense of hope. For many women, it was their first-ever breast check, and a reminder that early detection truly saves lives.
