Weekly Newsletter,Issue 24; Building Lifesavers: Monitor Healthcare Facilitates Back-to-Back BLS Trainings

Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. The difference between life and death in such moments often depends on how quickly and effectively the first responder acts. That is why Basic Life Support (BLS) training is a critical skill for both healthcare professionals and non-medical individuals who want to be prepared to save lives.

At Monitor Healthcare, we are committed to equipping individuals and organizations with lifesaving skills through our internationally recognized training programs. Recently, we held two successful BLS trainings back-to-back one in Lagos and another in Ibadan — between August 30th and September 5th, 2025.

First Training: Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi – August 30th

The first session was held at our Training Center in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi. Participants were taken through the fundamentals of BLS in a highly interactive, hands-on class. The training covered:
• How to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies
• Effective performance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Management of airway obstruction and choking
• The safe and timely use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

Participants expressed enthusiasm about how practical the session was. They left with increased confidence, knowing that they could take immediate action in an emergency situation — whether in a hospital, workplace, or even at home.

Second Training: Lifeforte High School, Ibadan – September 5th

The second training took place in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the nursing team at Lifeforte High School received specialized training. Their focus was on how to respond swiftly to medical emergencies in a school environment, where children and adolescents may suddenly face health crises.

The team was trained on:
• Recognizing early signs of medical emergencies
• Performing CPR for infants, children, and adults
• Responding to choking, fainting, or sudden collapse
• Coordinating immediate care before advanced medical help arrives

By the end of the session, the school nurses were well-prepared to serve as first responders, ensuring a safer school community for both students and staff.

Why BLS Training Matters

Basic Life Support training equips participants with the confidence, skills, and readiness to act in critical moments. Studies have shown that immediate CPR can double or even triple a victim’s chances of survival after cardiac arrest. This is why Monitor Healthcare continues to prioritize expanding access to BLS training across Nigeria and beyond.

Our mission goes beyond healthcare facilities — we are committed to empowering schools, workplaces, and communities with lifesaving knowledge.
